Dear Brother,
Keith Fairmont, co-creator of MLA, Facilitator, Executive Director, Operations Manager,
Guide Council Member, Fundraiser..., (the list goes on as he wore many hats), is ready to move on—to heed the
call of a new path.
Keith will continue to serve MLA, but in a new and different capacity. He is in a place
where he is being called to “let go”, to open up to new potential, and to welcome others to step into the leadership
of the organization, in a way like he has not done before.
We honor and we celebrate his decision and look forward to the unfolding of new direction
for MLA to serve the community and share in the visioning and fulfillment of our mission to empower men to step
into their authentic selves by embracing both their light and their shadow sides.
We are fortunate that MLA is not losing Keith, but rather will continue to be blessed
through his contributions in new and exciting and as yet unexpected ways. Keith remains committed to MLA and
will carry on doing what he does best:
- Facilitate Programs
- Stay engaged where needed and bring new program ideas forward that will further growth of alumni
and current membership
- Be an advocate and spokesperson for MLA to potential donors and new membership
- Be available to the Guide Council, Program Council, and the new Administration
- Personally commit to financially support MLA
It is a bittersweet and difficult decision for him. It is one of letting go and
stepping into the unknown. It is one of uncertainty, and certainly there have been lots of tears and fears,
yet there is also the excitement of treading into the unknown and embracing future potential and mystery.
A grassroots organization that plays a vital role in many lives, MLA is currently in a
place of transition that has been poised on a breakthrough of growth. The programs we hosted were successful
and impacted many people’s lives. Our internal operating systems are better than ever (improvements still
welcome) and our updated website is reaching both alumni and new people.
Community awareness is expanding and many people are requesting other services beyond
our existing programs. Along with our current plans, Keith would like to focus his energy on helping to expand
the work— to create new programs that allow men to dive deeper or reconnect to where they left off when they
attended one of our programs. It is time to provide another platform of retreats to those men who have already
been served by our programs, such as Art of Leadership II and perhaps additional levels of Spirit Camps and
Elder Retreats.
It is a time for MLA leadership to envision and reach for new frontiers. There are many
ideas on the table. Rest assured the main intent is to keep true to the core essence of what MLA has to offer
and continue to be a resource for the soul of men.
We are in a position of trusting Spirit to really show us what lies ahead. We are in a
place of new beginnings, envisioning new ways for alumni and prospects to be both served, and to personally get
more involved and help serve. We thank you for your support to-date, and we trust you to continue to support
MLA as we expand. Please send us your blessings as we continue on our path.
In Gratitude,
MLA Guide Council
