I’m writing you as the new executive director of the Men’s Leadership Alliance.I’ve been aboard for a little over a month now and I’m still trying to figure it all out -- with much assistance from Keith, Tom and Jeffrey, along with a lot of other MLA folks. Shortly I’ll be sending you a more formal letter of introduction, along with MLA’s 2008 brochure, but I wanted to touch base with you sooner than that. A long-time nonprofit administrator, I recently began seeking a new career path — one that had more to do with spirit and soul. The Guide Council fulfilled that search in offering me this job and my mission now is to bring MLA’s incredible programs to a larger audience — to change the world, one man at a time. I cannot do this alone. I need your help...

This year we are expanding our program offerings and have over twelve programs scheduled for 2008. We have three brand-new programs - CrossRoads in the Wilderness a Christian language version of our programs; Deepening our Soul Work: Awakening to Fierce Compassion, for men who have done prior soul work; and A Hero’s Passage, a new program for boys...

It has been a wonderful four months since the Elder workshop and Alumni Gathering. The Winter Spirit Camp was a real high for those lucky enough to attend. There is a growing team of men who are taking on new challenges of leadership. A new apprentice program is really happening, with over 20 men who have shown interest in being able to help other men through MLA...So what does this mean to MLA? It is quite simple: MLA – our “band of brothers”—is also going through incredible growing pains...

Calling all Christian identified MLA men: We need you! We are making a road where there is no road! CrossRoads in the Wilderness is a unique doctrine/dogma free program designed to bring the power of MLA's Leadership Training to open minded Christian identified men everywhere, men for whom Christian language and symbol is more familiar and more accessible than MLA's usual "dialect". CrossRoads is a new MLA road for more men to connect with their heart and soul, and with Spirit. Join me in this adventure as pilot weekend participants (May 30-June 1) and small group staff (Aug 13-17), or as ambassadors who spread the word about CrossRoads.

We are looking forward to another rich soul and joyful men’s fast in June. Based in Eldora where I live for pre and post fast preparation and councils. Arriving to my fourth consecutive MLA Spirit Camp, I eagerly drove the paved road past Jamestown making my way onto the dirt road into Cal Wood. Like many men, I struggled to get away from my busy life, all the commitments and obligations of work and family, but now they are all trailing behind me...
