There is something essential about going to wilder places. Jesus knew that and went to a wilder place to meet his inner challenges and to prepare himself for the coming challenge and adventure of his life, a ministry of courage, compassion, and service.
You really have to experience CrossRoads to know what it is and what it will be for you, but here is what one participant said:
"CrossRoads is an awesome adventure of men's soul work approached with a Christian perspective in an incredible setting. The "long weekend" format may be better for those men who can't spend an entire week away from job and family. CrossRoads is God's Men doing God's Work in God's Nature. What could be more Real? Is it worth it? You bet!"
- Carl, of Dallas, Texas
This extended weekend supports men desiring a mature manhood, one of strong loving relationship to self, neighbor, God, and Earth. We do this through listening, ancient ritual, solo time, and innovative practices. We’re not big on dogma and doctrine, We are big on the experience of brotherhood, soul, and inspiration.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the
wilderness...
Matthew 4:1 |
Staff
CrossRoads is guided by Rev. Todd Smiedendorf and staff. You can view complete biographies of our staff here. To adequately support this powerful journey, we build strong retreat “containers” by keeping participant
to staff ratios low, usually two to one. We are not aware of any other similar programs (outside of MLA)
that provide the same level of professional and volunteer staffing. The program also provides a
comprehensive training notebook that includes pre-training preparation and post-training integration.
Hearty, healthy meals are also provided.

- Seeking renewal and connection to Spirit and Creation
- Working through a life change

- Find a purpose and vision for service
