Father and Adult Son Weekend Retreat - age 18 and older
October 5 - 7, 2007
Retreat Facility near Boulder, CO

Welcome Men
In our work, men have shown us how deeply important their father's are to them. When examining their wounds and longings, often there is a father involved.

Many times, a man's limitations, his self-destructive patterns, his unrealized dreams, are rooted in his relationship with his father. Men frequently, often subconsciously, idolize and long to connect to their dads. They put their life dreams on hold, decade after decade, waiting for the love and approval that only their fathers can give.

Fathers & Adult Sons 18+ (Stepfathers, Sons-in-law, Uncles and Nephews...)
We will explore some of the deeper issues of their relationships and look together at their life stories in a spirit of mutual understanding and growth.

There will be time for men to be witnessed in the shared story of the lifelong journey with their fathers. The spirit will be one of openness and healing. Truths will be welcome, with the provision that each man is ultimately responsible for the decisions of his life. Feelings, thoughts and actions are to be owned, and embraced as each man’s unique passage here on earth.

Together we will look at our male lineages and explore our ancestral connections. Fathers and sons will take their appropriate positions in the family story. An awareness of this alignment is a simple, yet powerful way for men to appreciate where they come from, and where they are going.

Fathers and sons will have time away from each other, with the other fathers or sons, to do personal work. In some cases, the stories and processes need to be separate, with more orchestrated encounters when fathers and sons come back together.

There will be a spirit of celebration. Each of the fathers, and their sons, (stepfathers, and sons-in-law, uncles and nephews) will gain a new understanding of this most primary relationship.

In the power of council, ritual, and soulful community, the beauty of fathers and sons will bless us all.

We look forward to your stories of the beauty and challenge of being fathers and sons in the modern world.

A sound man's heart is not shut within itself, but is open to other people's hearts. I find good people good and I find bad people good, If I am good enough. I trust men of their word and I trust liars If I am true enough. I feel the heart-beats of others above my own If I am enough of a father, enough of a son.
