“The primary task of every stable period is to build a life structure: a man must make certain key choices, form a structure around them, and pursue his goals and values within this structure.”
– Daniel Levinson
Short on time? Here are the 60-second basics…
WHAT: A 4-part live, experiential online course for men designed to help you strengthen your capacity to embrace stability in your life with vitality and joy.
Life is a series of alternating stable and transition periods, both valid life stages that need reflection and attention. Transition periods serve to illuminate what changes need to be made in your life. It is in the stable periods where true vitality can emerge from the satisfaction of building and maintaining a life structure that supports your gifts, passions, and callings, which were often discovered during transition times.
Stability is a necessary part of the life cycle, and when stable periods are formed consciously those times in life can be embraced as some of the most rewarding and vibrant times in life. When clarity, gratitude, meaning and purpose are absent it can be difficult to feel the joy of life.
This course is designed for you to examine your past patterns and beliefs around stability, and reflect on the lessons and gifts from those choices as service to discovering appreciation for your daily lifeworld. Through learning to embrace the strength of stability, you will leave this course with a renewed sense of purpose and more clarity for the next steps ahead.

WHO: This course is for any man who wants to learn simple and powerful holistic tools to engage purposefully in your everyday life. If you are ready to utilize your daily routine to aid in transforming into the next fuller version of yourself, then this course is for you.
This course is guided by longtime MLA Guide and men’s studies scholar, Jason Geoffrion, PhD, and MLA Holistic Leader and Apprentice Guide, Jackson Maloney.
WHY: Embracing stability creates a powerful life. By becoming witness to your past choices and current desires you can clearly see how to design and direct your life more toward your deeper purpose and higher calling through the choices you make each and every day.
Through engaging with all parts of yourself – examining your internal belief systems, embracing the reality and impact of your past, current and future choices, and identifying your larger callings and purpose you can transform into a man that lives the rest of your life with more clarity and ease. With this new embodied understanding, you will be of greater service to your family, workplace, and community.

You have made a series of choices and built a life structure around them.
Your task now is to weave those choices together into a life that is generative, vibrant, and joyful.
Stable periods play a vital part in your development. Stability is not about resigning yourself to just showing up out of obligation. Stable periods are for building life structures (as opposed to transition periods, which are for making structural changes). Stability stages call for a constancy of existence optimally based on your larger sense of purpose.
To engage in stability healthfully there are specific tasks that need to be tended to in order to find contentment. These tasks involve cultivating means for enhancing yourself within the construct of the choices you’ve made. Stable periods ask us to develop the capacities of grit, discipline, fortitude, and commitment – capacities that often scare men, perhaps, in part at least, because play, fun, joy and pleasure often seem incompatible with meeting the everyday tasks of stable periods.
Hope can be found in the acceptance of the past as a pathway to understanding yourself better, and thus having a more solid ground to inform and direct your engagement with each day, and the rest of your life.
Often when we remember the larger vision of our life and can see ways that purpose is evident each and every day, we find it is possible and optimal to greet each day with vitality and excitement.
The work of stability is to embrace and accept the fullness of being a man.
The excuses for not showing up fully each day are the leftover and unfulfilled voices of the boy in you. This course will help you release your allegiance to what was or what could be by finding or remembering the strength you possess to stand tall in your life as the capable man that you are and have always been.
To truly be content, your work when in a stable period is to create a meaning-full daily existence that is of joyful service to yourself and others.
Our task is to help you build your capacities to move meaningfully in that direction.

As a guide, psychotherapist, life coach, teacher, and transition specialist over the last 20 years, Jason has felt a deep desire and hunger from men of all ages to have meaningful connection with themselves as masculine beings. And he has seen the dire ramifications when that connection is absent. Jason creates spaces for men to access their authentic selves and redefine their definitions of masculinity so they can be of better service to their families, communities, workplaces, and the world.
Jason has served as Executive Director and facilitator for Men’s Leadership Alliance for 12 years, and has guided men’s retreats, leadership retreats, father/son retreats and rites of passages for men and boys of all ages. He recently completed his doctoral work in human development. His dissertation is entitled Defining a Masculine Self: A Phenomenological Study on the Impact of Men’s Retreats. Jason lives in Riverside, Colorado with his wife, Ellen and their daughter, Coraleigh.
Jackson Maloney is a poet and singer-songwriter based in Hygiene, CO. Originally from northern California, he moved out to Colorado in 2012 to attend college at CU Boulder, where he graduated with a degree in English Literature in 2016. During his senior year at CU, he attended his first men’s retreat with MLA, where he experienced the power, beauty, and necessity of men gathering together. He wept sincerely for the first time in his life, he surrendered his fears to the group, and he met his ancestors in a brand new way. Since then, he has remained actively involved in the organization through retreats, the annual Rite of Passage for teenage boys, and through his current enrollment in the two-year-long Holistic Leadership Training Program. He credits these circles and this way of authentic connection as being profoundly influential in all areas of his life, and he is excited to share this inspiration with other men.
