Stepping Into Conscious Eldering
This retreat is for any man over 50 who hears the “call” to honor and appreciate the gifts of having lived 5 decades and the desire to bless their own inner world and the outer world that needs those gifts.
In our view Elderhood is about beginning to let go of the busyness of doing, and step more and more into the giveaway and the place of blessing others. Because our culture does not recognize the important need for Elders often men who are in the Elder age have trouble taking the next necessary steps on the life journey.
Too often older men get caught in the loops of doing, unsure what do with themselves if they stop working so much. And often they feel like there aren’t others in their world to receive them as Elders. And, many other stories that keep men from stepping into Elderhood.
Whatever your story is, the world needs healthy, initiated Elders. Whether you are a young Elder in your 50s just beginning to step into this life stage, or are a man in your 60s or 70s or beyond looking to be recognized as Elder, this retreat is for you. Come be surrounded by other men daring to identify as Elder.
Near the end of the passage you will have the opportunity to both bless and be honored by younger men.
Part of stepping into Elder is recognizing yourself as Elder. And, part of being recognized as Elder is having men of younger generations calling you in and seeing you as Elder, younger men there to say, “We see you. We need you. We need your stories. We need your wisdom. We need your listening. We see you as Elder.”
The final day of the Elder Passage other men will arrive. Those on the Elder Passage will have opportunities to give their gifts by designing and implementing ceremonies to welcome the other men. Then, later that night the other MLA men will honor those who have been on the Elder’s Passage journey through a beautiful witness and blessing ceremony.
